Cake taken care of!

So June 12 me and my sister went to Publix to check out their wedding cakes and prices. We tried Red Velvet, Coconut, and Carrot. The carrot cake was amazing!!! The coconut cake was good, and the red velvet was gross (it had a hint of cherry). After thinking this would be good, the lady showed us the prices. OMG! It was ridiculous! I thought Publix would be pretty fair, but after delivery it was going to be well over 600 just for the bridal cake!

So I kept looking and decided to give a little place in Antioch a try. Last Tuesday we went to Homestyle Bakery to see how we liked their cakes. They were amazing! We tried Red Velvet, Carrot, White and Pumpkin.

Originally she had accidentally given us spice instead of pumpkin, so I was a little let down, but then she brought out the real deal and told us they may had been switched. When I tried the pumpkin it was a match! The price was a little higher than I was planning on paying but it also includes a cool grooms cake (which will be a surprise!). It also helped that the first thing I felt when I walked it was that the bakery smelled like these donut things (cruellers) my grandpop used to get us when we were younger. Everything kind of fell into place so 2 days later I went back to place the deposit and hold my date.

Originally I had a meeting with another baker who does cakes out of her home, but my mom brought up a good point. For one, the travel is going to be very important since my site is so far out, so we need experienced people for that. Homestyle Bakery has not only been around since 1975, but has delivered as far as Ohio! Also, by choosing a bakery versus a single person, there are back up people in case there are any family emergencies.

So there you have it! Cake is another thing I can check off the list!

Ema loved it:
